Can a beginner join the club?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe club outings are suited for skiers of all\u00a0levels, from first-time beginners to experts. Lessons for first-time beginners start in December and usually run through to the end of February. If you start early in the season, you will be a confident\u00a0skier before the season is over.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nGroup\u00a0lessons for all levels are given from mid-December to mid-February. The lessons take place in La Vattay (usually 4 times per season)<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> Which resorts does the club visit?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe day trips usually visit ski resorts in the nearby French Alps such as Les Contamines, Flaine, Argenti\u00e8re\u00a0and Meg\u00e8ve\u00a0or Courmayeur in the Italian Alps.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nFor day trips, we usually go to Nordic resorts in the nearby French Jura (Les Rousses, Pr\u00e9manon, etc.) or Swiss Jura (La Givrine, Le Marchairuz, etc.), sometimes to resorts\u00a0in Haute-Savoie (Praz-de-Lys, Les Saisies, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">SUMMER SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nWe mostly hike in the Canton Vaud and Valais, as well as in nearby France (Jura and Alps).<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> How much does an outing cost?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe exact price depends on the destination. The coach transport costs CHF 35.-, a full-day lesson costs CHF 40.-, (for the Freeride classes CHF 50.-) and the ski lift ticket costs between CHF 30.- and 55.- So a day of skiing will cost about CHF 100.-<br \/>\nThe weekend trips cost at least CHF 450.- (and include transport, ski\u00a0pass, hotel, breakfast and dinner).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC AND SUMMER SECTIONS<\/span><br \/>\nTransport is organised\u00a0by private cars (carpooling) or by public transport. The costs depend on\u00a0the destination. By car the costs are usually between 15 and 30 CHF, to which is added the 5 CHF fee per day.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> What does a day trip look like?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nOur service includes the travel to the ski resort and back by\u00a0coach, the ski lift ticket and an entire day lessons given by a ski instructor with a Swiss diploma. We start from Geneva, at the place des Nations,at 7:30 am, and\u00a0return\u00a0the same evening at around\u00a06:30 pm. The participants of a class generally eat lunch together in a restaurant. The price of the lunch is not included in the lesson price.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC AND SUMMER SECTIONS<\/span><br \/>\nThe meeting time and place are decided\u00a0by the leader of the outing depending on\u00a0the destination and the activity. For outings\u00a0in the Jura mountains, the meeting point\u00a0is usually at the rue de Varemb\u00e9, near the Place des Nations, where parking is available.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> What language is spoken?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">Although lessons are provided in French, many instructors also speak English. The participants speak every language imaginable.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> Can you tell me about weekend outings?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">The weekend outings venture a bit farther from Geneva usually to resorts in the Swiss and French Alps. The schedule is set at the beginning of each year and typically includes resorts such as Zermatt, Wengen, Zinal and Crans-Montana in Switzerland, and Val d\u2019Isere and Les Deux Alpes in France. The weekend outings usually\u00a0leave Geneva on a Friday evening and return on Sunday evening. There are no lessons given on the weekend outings. The weekend outings can sometimes take on a festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC AND SUMMER SECTIONS<\/span><br \/>\nFor the weekends, we usually venture a bit farther away, for example to\u00a0Valais or Savoie<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> Do you do anything other than skiing? How about snowboarding?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">During the ski\u00a0season, the club also organises snowboarding lessons,\u00a0cross-country and snowshoeing outings, off-piste helicopter skiing, ski touring and nighttime ski and sledge outings. From Easter to October, the club also organises hikes, mostly in the mountains, and kayaking.<br \/>\nA few social events are also organised.\u00a0<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> I am already an experienced skier. I do not need lessons. If you are already certified and would like to teach, please let us know. Ask for Raffaele at the permanence on Thursday evenings.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe Nordic skiing outings are usually\u00a0for experienced Nordic skiers. We organize group\u00a0beginners&#8217; lessons\u00a0and after a few lessons you can join the \u201ceasy\u201d outings.<br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> What happens if the weather is bad? Are outings ever cancelled?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nIn case of a really bad weather forecast for the outing and closing of the ski resort, the organizers will cancel the outing on Thursday evening. If this happens, you will receive an email from the organizer (you have to be on the mailing list). If the outing is cancelled, participants will be fully reimbursed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe leader will give instructions at the latest on the morning of the outing. If there is not enough snow for skiing or snowshoeing, the leader may decide to change the destination, or to organise a hike instead.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">SUMMER SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nThe leader will make sure to inform the participants whether a hike is taking place or is cancelled, this is usually done via email or telephone the day before the hike.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-default su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span> What is the refund policy?<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">ALPINE SECTION<\/span><br \/>\nIf an outing is held and you do not show up <strong>there will be no refund.<\/strong> You must understand that if you do not turn up, the club has already incurred expenses on the basis of your inscription (transport, teachers&#8230;) which must be paid for.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">NORDIC AND SUMMER SECTIONS<\/span><br \/>\nOf the sum that you paid when you registered, we will neither refund the club tax nor any other costs that we had due to your registration.
